Is Tap dancing a good workout?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I don’t like gyms so i like to do different activities for excersise (biking, tennis, salsa dancing, etc). I’ve never taken tap dance and it looks interesting. For any tap dancers out there, is tap dancing a good workout?

Tap dancing not only builds strength (in most areas, not just the legs and ankles), but it is a very good form of exercise to help build endurance. Tap dance also exercises your brain because you are concentrating on learning sequenced moves and also how to use different parts of your foot to create different sounds. You also work at improving coordination with tap dance, since you must tap the proper rhythm with the coordination of using arms, hands, etc. Using your ab muscles and shoulders/back to lift your body off of the ground when doing some tap moves makes tap dancing an excellent (and fun!) form of exercise for those who need variety and a challenge.

Is there a place to go swing dancing regularly in Fresno, CA?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I’ve looked and I can’t find any place for my wife and I to go. I used to go all the time in Denver, but it just doesn’t seem to be as popular here.

There is West Coast Swing in Fresno, but I don’t think that’s the kind of swing you’re looking for (since it’s a ballroom style and normally danced to pop, country, and blues music).

But you can go check out this site:

If you’re looking for lindy hop swing dancing, I recommend you make to the trek to Sacramento:

…or to San Francisco:

…or to San Luis Obispo

Sorry there’s nothing closer, but I hope I helped!

How can i start street dancing at home?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Should i just buy vidoes, and watch tutorials?? or should i just join a crew.

If you want to do it at home then you should start with tutorials to get the feel. Then one you feel ready make your way to videos. Then do both to go over moves! I would do 1-2 videos or tutorials a day for idk a month or two. Then I would join a crew.

Hope I helped!
